Immigration Depot, Kangaroo Point
Yungaba Immigration Depot, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane
Built in 1887 the Yungaba Immigration Centre was located in Main Street, Kangaroo Point alongside the Brisbane River. The first residents of the centre were the passengers of the migrant ship the Duke of Buccleuch which landed in Australia on 6 December 1887.
The centre has had different fuctions, from being a reception centre for troops returning from the Boer War, housing for Story Bridge workers to a hospital for diseases during WWII.
