Edward Street, 1926
Edward Street, Brisbane looking east, October 1926
From the Daily Standard, Monday 17 March 1930:
CROWD SAVED HIS LIFE! MAN UNDER TRAM.
The large crowd assembled at the intersection of Edward and Elizabeth streets on Saturday to watch the marshalling of the St. Patrick's Day procession, porbably saved Edward Burton Woolcock's life when he fell beneath a tram.
Woolcock, who is 56 years of age, and who resides at New Farm, was crossing Edward street when he was struck by a tram travelling between the Botanic Gardens and Queen street. Woolcock was knocked down and, as the crowd compelled the tram driver to slow down, the driver was able to stop the tram before the wheels reached him. Woolcock was assisted to his feet and, apart from a slight shaking, suffered no ill effects from the incident.
